Brighton Library Announces Lineup of The Hunger Games Programs

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is the title for the 2012 Livingston Reads “One Book, One Community” project www.livingstonreads.org. The Brighton District Library has a great lineup of adult programs to support this bestselling book and invites you to come and join us.

Cooking with Chef Cathy
Wednesday, Mar 14, 7-8:15pm (Room A/B)

Take the worry out of planning your next meal, big or small, and join us at the Brighton District Library. Chef Cathy is a premier member of the United States Personal Chef Associatioin (USPCA). Learn how to prepare some quick and healthy recipes.  Maybe you are asking, "What is a personal chef service?"  It’s a service that provides healthy meals without leaving your home. No preservatives are used and only the freshest ingredients are selected in meal preparation. Every meal is a simple pleasure by using a customized approach when it comes to cooking. Cathy uses nourishing, healthy food for the body and soul. Her goal is to take the guess work out of meal planning, allowing people more time in their busy lives. Registration is limited. Make-Up Tips and Tricks with Marina

Join Marina Greenlee, owner of DolledUp Make-Up Studio and Lash Bar in Brighton, as she provides tips and tricks for proper make-up application and selection. Participants can volunteer to model different make-up techniques and colors. Registration begins Mar 4.
 
Adult Book Discussion Group
Monday, Mar 19, 7-8:30pm (Conference Room)

Join us as we discuss this month's book selection, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The story takes place in a dystopian future. The country is divided into the Capitol and its 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games, a game which forces the elimination, literally, of their competitors. Book copies may be available at the circulation desk or can be ordered though our shared catalog system. Drop-in.
 
Hunger Games Book vs. Movie
Sunday, Mar 25, 11am-2pm (Room A/B)

Join us for a Book vs. Movie discussion, comparing the print and film versions of the Hunger Games. We will meet at the MJR theater for an early showing of The Hunger Games, and then return to the library for a fun discussion, along with a delicious lunch. Register before Mar 21.

The Cats and the Fiddler
Monday, April 2, 7-8pm (Reading Room)

Join us for a fantastic concert, featuring The Cats and the Fiddler, an amazing trio of 16 year olds who specialize in acoustic music with influences from country, bluegrass, blues, and jazz. This is an event you don’t want to miss! Drop-in.
