Brighton Area Schools Important Dates, Information for 2012-2013
Brighton Area Schools Superintendent Dr. Greg Gray goes over key information for the 2012-2013 school year in his Friday Letter.
With roughly 30 days until the beginning of the 2012-13 school year, I thought it would be helpful to send you some key information as you prepare for another great year at BAS. I know this time of year I spend a great deal of time preparing the family calendar and scheduling how it is all going to work. Listed below you will find dates and times that should help you with this process. However, if you should have questions or concerns related to dates and timesn please do not hesitate to contact me.
First and foremost start and end times will remain consistent with the 2011-12 school year. The start and end times may fluctuate by about five minutes for the 2012-13 school year. Approximate times are listed below.
- BHS – 7:25 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.
- Scranton – 7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
- Maltby – 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Elementary – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The first day of school this year will be Tuesday, Sept. 4 and it will be a
full day of school. Your individual building administrators will be in contact over the next couple of weeks with specific schedules related to the beginning of school.
Nov. 5 and 6 are no school days due to records day and the national election. There will also be no school on November 15th due to parent teacher conferences. No school on Nov. 21, 22, and 23 for Thanksgiving Recess.
Our Winter recess and spring break common calendars for the next five years are posted on our main webpage. The only change for next year is that our winter recess will run through Jan. 4 with school resuming on Monday, Jan. 7.
As in year’s past we will also have the traditional mid-winter recess with no school on Feb. 22 through Feb. 25. Our last day of school will be June 7, 2013 and it will be a half day of school. We hope to have our completed calendar on our website soon, but if you should have questions just let me know.
