Brighton District Library Hosts Local Author Showcase

Six authors from around Michigan will discuss their work Sunday, May 5 from 1:30-4 pm.

The Brighton District Library will host a Local Author Showcase, Sunday, May 5 from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. The event will feature six authors from around Michigan who will briefly discuss their work. Following the presentations, attendees will have an opportunity to visits author tables to meet and talk with them and purchase books.

Local Author Showcase is a three-times-a-year event sponsored by the library in support of local authors, their efforts, literacy, and lifelong learning. The library is fortunate to be approached each year by authors who would like to share their work with the community through presentations and signing events.

Jody Lamb author of Easter Ann Peters: Operation Cool 
Easter Ann Peters’ Operation Cool is a finalist for the 2012 Book of the Year Award in juvenile fiction from Fore World Press. Since its release, the novel has been praised by literary journals, Betty Ford Center and Bette Ford Institute for its realistic portrayal of parental alcoholism and its hopeful message.

Twelve-year-old Easter Ann Peters has a plan to make seventh grade awesome. She’s determined to erase years of being known as the quiet, straight-A student who can’t think of a decent comeback to bullies. When she meets a new friend, her personality shines and she becomes more confident. Life at home isn’t so happy, Easter works double-overtime to keep mom’s drinking a secret.

Sarah Notebaert author of Sullen Ground

Robert Omilian author of No Fear, No Doubt, No Regret: Investing in Life's Challenges Like a Warrior
How many parents can say that they have no fears, doubts or regrets after having raised their children? Elaine Pereira author of I Will Never Forget: A Daughter’s Story of Her Mother’s Arduous and Humorous Journey through Dementia
It is extremely difficult to watch a loved one decline as dementia ravages his or her mind, robbing them of their memory, thinking abilities, and judgment. In Pereira’s touching memoir, she shares the sometimes heartbreaking and occasionally humorous story of her mother’s journey through dementia, as seen through the eyes of her little girl.
