Brighton Drops Homecoming Game to Hartland 35-14
Brighton High School Seniors Jack Grant and Kaleigh Brown were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during halftime.
The Brighton Bulldogs dropped the 2012 homecoming game to Hartland 35-14.
Hartland scored twice in the first quarter to lead 13-0. Brighton stormed back in the second quarter led by quarterback Chase Browning. Browning hooked with Mark Konieczny on a 46 yard pass giving the Bulldogs a first and goal at the 4-yard line. Konieczny scored from 4-yards out cutting the lead to 13-7.
Three minutes later Browning hit Konieczny on a 40-yard bomb down to Hartland’s 4-yard line. Konieczny plunged into the end zone at the 5 minute mark. Jacob Pardonnet converted on the extra point giving the Bulldogs a 14-13 lead.
Hartland came right back to take the lead for good on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Stephen Milarch to Anthony Villar with just 7 seconds left in the second quarter. Milarch passed to Brandon Gigliotti in the corner of the end zone on the 2-point conversion giving the Eagles 21-14 lead at the half.
The Bulldog defense held Hartland to a 3 and out on the opening drive of the third quarter. Brighton could not get the offense going in the second half thanks to a stingy Hartland defense. The Eagles scored twice in the second half giving Hartland a 35-14 win.
Brighton High School Senior Kaleigh Brown was crowned 2012 Homecoming Queen and Senior Jack Grant was crowned Homecoming King during halftime to the delight of the large crowd.
The Homecoming theme this year was "Out of this World." Each float had an outer space theme, but it wasthe sophomore float that took first place in the float competition.
The Brighton Homecoming dance will be held Saturday at Brighton High School at 7 p.m.
