I just realized that it is really just a short time until school starts! Wow, this summer has gone by quickly. 

In preparation to get ready for the big day, I thought of a bookmark that will do double duty as a mini-stationary set. I usually use scrap paper to help me remember the best parts in a book, or find the areas I should reread. This bookmark will have paper and pen ready to jot down ideas, questions, quotes.

You need scrap paper (to make it look pretty), ruled or graph ruled paper, small post-it-notes, scissors, glue, a stapler, some ribbon or other embellishments and a hole punch.

Since a bookmark should be rather thin, we took about eight sticky note papers (2" x 2"). We laid them on the patterned paper to determine our width of the bookmark, which we then marked and cut. Then we cut our graph ruled paper to size and counted eight pages. 

Next, we adhered the sticky notes to the bottom of the patterned paper and laid the graph ruled papers above onto the strip of patterned paper. We then folded the patterned paper above the graph ruled paper and stapled it together. Next, we punched a hole and added our decorative ribbon and string to attach the pen.

Back to the bookmark, it needed a cover, so we glued a second strip of paper to the back, folded it below the sticky notes upwards and cut to size so it would slide under the "staple closure". To cover the staple, we just cut a heart out of paper and adhered it with glue.

Now, we can mark our books without leaving permanent marks.
