Holiday Open House Offers Up Festivities For Everyone

Stop by the Brighton Library December 10 from 1 – 5 p.m.

'Tis the season to be merry with the announcement of the Brighton District Library’s annual Holiday Open House. Enjoy an afternoon of free holiday entertainment from caroling and crafts to Santa and stories, on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Children can visit with Santa in the Youth Department from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Remember to bring your camera. Holiday stories will be read and craft activities will be available for children to make and take home.

Back by popular demand this year is the Echoes of Praise Hand Bell Choir from Brighton’s First United Methodist Church. Listen to holiday bell music performed by the choir followed by audience participation from the children. The performance begins at 1 p.m.

Special to this year’s Open House will be Holiday caroling from 1:00-2:30 p.m. performed throughout the library by the Original Dickens Carolers. Wearing elegant 1840s dress, the group has performed for numerous public events throughout the West Michigan area.

Located outside the front door entrance, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., families will have an opportunity to see one of Santa’s reindeer. Parents can capture a special photo while kids pet this magical animal.

Harpist Diane Dunn will help create an enchanting mood during the Open House with beautiful harp music performed from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dunn, in addition to being a renowned Harpist, is also a children’s picture book author. Her books include The Adventure of a Harp Mouse a delightful story about an adventurous little mouse that has musical talents of its own and wants to share them.

Throughout the Open House festivities, families are invited to enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of the Brighton District Library.
