Imagination Station Temporarily Shut Down Today

City announces the park is undergoing maintenance repairs.

The Imagination Station was temporarily closed today — several weeks earlier than expected.

Department of Public Services employees will be performing maintenance repairs to the playground in Brighton, City Manager Dana Foster said in a news release sent around 12:30 p.m. But the release did not specify the type of repairs being done, nor how long the park would be closed.

According to the press release, the repairs are being done as the city engineer conducts a review of the park, after Foster received an inquiry "regarding the content and quality of the playground's materials." Who made the inquiry and what about the playground's materials was not further specified.

Brighton Patch has been unable to reach city officials this afternoon for further comment.

A committee group made up of city officials, business owners and volunteers have already pledged to make repairs to the park after they did an assessment of the park's condition last month, with the first repairs planned in September, they said.
