Brighton Business Provides Education in 'Ever-Changing Climate' of Medicare

Johnny Branstetter of Senior Health Direct says his company was "designed to fill that gap and to become the adviser for those who are confused about navigating Medicare."

"As web-based sales began to make a real impact in 2008, we realized that there was a huge lack of guidance on many of the sites that began popping up that offered Medicare Supplements, Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug plans," he wrote.

How did your business come to be?: Our parent company, Senior Benefits Group, has been helping seniors with their Medicare and retirement planning for over 20 years.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: All services rendered are done at no cost to our clients. Our advisers are paid a flat fee, unlike a traditional insurance agent that makes commission based on the premium that gives them an incentive to sell plans with higher premiums. Our advisers have no bias towards any plan or comapany.

What services does your business provide? Senior Health Direct is a Medicare insurance exchange with a focus on education. We help seniors understand how Medicare works, how the supplemental insurance comes into play and how the healthcare bill will affect them and their Medicare.

Once they have a working understanding of how Medicare works, we help them find the program that is the best fit and facilitate their enrollment into that plan.

What do you want your business to be best known for?: Education.

So many seniors are confused about the ever-changing climate of Medicare. There are so many different changes coming down the pipeline stemming from the healthcare bill, and there are very few who know how it will impact seniors. Our experts are trained to explain something as confusing as Medicare and the surrounding legislation in a straightforward, easy to understand way.

Our goal is to build lifelong relationships with our clients, keeping them informed of any changes to Medicare and making sure that they are always properly protected and not overpaying for their coverage.

What's your most popular product or service?: Every senior has a different Medicare supplemental insurance and prescription drug program to fit their needs. There isn't "one" product that is more popular than the rest.

When was the business founded?: January 2012

Why did you choose to locate to Brighton?: Senior Benefits Group, our parent company, is based in Brighton. It just made sense to open our business nearby so that we could pool our resources.
