Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Nominate the Best Nonprofit in the Brighton Area

Let us know the best nonprofit in Brighton, Brighton Township or Howell so we can put it to a vote and find out which is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.

Editor's Note: The nomination period is now closed. You will be able to vote for your favorite organization in a poll beginning July 23.

From the annual food drives, spelling bees and scholarships, local nonprofits and service groups are the backbone of the community. We want to know who is the best?

Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else who knows about nonprofits to nominate the best ones in the Brighton area.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

PS: Sign up for the Brighton Patch newsletter to find out when voting starts so you can support your favorite institution in the Readers' Choice contest.

Stiggy's Dogs in Howell - "Rescuing One to Rescue Another"
Stiggy's Dogs transforms shelter dogs into individually trained Psychiatric Service Animals for our military veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury at no cost to the veteran. Like guide dogs for the blind, Psychiatric Service Dogs aid people with mental illnesses and traumatic brain injury. These dogs are taught specific tasks ranging from reminding veterans to take their medication, waking veterans up from nightmares and directing veterans through large crowds. All of the dogs are rescued. StiggysDogs.org
