Oceola Township Woman Charged With Abuse and Torture of 3-Year-Old Step-Grandson
Police said the 3-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital last year with more than 60 different injuries.
After an extensive three month investigation, an Oceola Township woman was arrested on Friday on charges of 1st Degree Child Abuse and Torture, according to a press release sent out by Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
34-year-old Sara Rae Walters is being held at the Livingston County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
Police said that on Oct. 21, a 3-year-old boy was admitted to the University of Michigan Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and found to have more than 60 different injuries, including a subdural hematoma, a core body temp of 88 degrees and numerous other superficial lacerations and contusions.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau revealed that the child suffered this abuse at the hands of Walters, his step-grandmother, at their Oceola Township home.
The charge of torture carries a term of life in prison.

This is pure evil and can no longer be tolerated, I don't care what kind of upbringing, background or hard luck story anyone has, violent crimes against childern, sexual prediters of childern need to carry life or even death sentences.
The line needs to be drawn clear and BOLD cut and dry, we need to protect these most innocent beings of our society.

Furthermore, anyone who knew this was going on, above the age of 18 should also be on trial and have there pic. right next to this monster, because you are just as guilty.

I grew up being abuse and sexully assulted and I know its wrong! It doesnt matter your upbringing you control your decisions and know the difference between right and wrong there is NO excuse!! They said this child has been in hospital 60 times in past year for injuries HELLO noone suspected something was going?? This poor baby hopefully will have a full recovery and be removed from this family and be placed with a family who will show love and affection this child deserves!! Prayers and being sent to this child!

Hi Dawn. Let me just say that the police did not say the child had been to the hospital 60 times. They said the hospital found more than 60 injuries on him during his October visit. Just wanted to make sure you understand the correct circumstances.

As far as I am concerned I really wish Michigan would bring back the death penalty for cases like this. She deserves to die.

That is so true. This woman is pure evil. An innocent, precious child was yet again, injured. Such crap! I love children, have children of my own and can't even contemplate ever hurting one, no matter the age. Abusers of children and child molesters need the death sentence, or... The same thing done to them! NO more excuses. I get sick of this going on. I had an abusive up-bringing and gad a crappy life no one could believe. And... I don't abuse or use drugs or what have you! These monsters need to stop using a crutch for their doings. Harsher punishments are in order!

No ryme or reason to abuse children. Why are these children becoming the victims of others anger or their punching bag. There had to be signs before he was admitted. I want people to be held accountable for their actions and others who were aware of it be punish as well. I'm mother of 3 and my youngest is 3, I would never bring harm to my children let alone someone else's child. I want more laws put into play for these children. My heart and prayers go out to that little angel!
