Patch readers have spoken and the votes are in for the best place to spend St. Patrick's Day in Brighton.

In our Readers' Choice contest, 58 voters cast their ballots for the restaurant or bar with the best St. Patrick's Day celebration.

The winner may surprise you. Then again, maybe not! Champ's Pub won the contest by a combination of poll votes and restaurant reviews in our Places Directory.

Receiving 23 votes (39 percent) in the contest, the well-known Brighton fixture has been voted "Best Burger" in Livingston County since 1988.

Owner Dave Beauchamp said his place has a reputation for good corned beef.

"If it's (St. Patrick's Day) is not our best day, then it's one of our best days," Beauchamp said. "This year was our best yet. The weather was perfect. I think at 9 a.m. it was 75 degrees. It was a beautiful day."

Beauchamp said he was busy all day long, right up until he closed a little early with last call at 12:30 a.m.

Beauchamp said his son helped promote the Brighton Patch Readers' Choice contest on Champ's Facebook Page.

Howell resident Jennifer Maybee left a five star review of Champ's during the contest, which was the winning factor.

"I love Champs," she said. "Awesome staff. Its my 'Cheers'"

Beauchamp said that he was happy to hear that.

"This is that kind of place," he said. "Comfortable and friendly."

Champ's Pub is open Monday-Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m. - 12 a.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. - 1 a.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 a.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. - 11 p.m.

While Stout Irish Pub had the majority of the poll votes (26 votes or 44 percent), they came in second overall because the lack of restuarant reviews.

Jameson's Irish Pub and Grill came in third. Check out the poll below to see all of the votes.
