Thank You for Making Booked for the Evening a Success!

Sold out benefit raises money for Library's print, audio-visual and electronic collections.

The Brighton District Library’s second annual gala fundraiser, Booked for the Evening, which took place March 22 at the Oak Pointe Country Club was a great success. This year’s sold out benefit raised in excess of $15,000 from ticket sales and live and silent auction items. Auction proceeds this year will benefit the Library’s print, audio-visual, and electronic collections.

The evening also marked the successful launch of the Library’s Light the Way capital campaign, led by campaign leaders Patrick and Margaret McDonald. Individuals wishing information should contact Diana Dart at 810-229-6571 x 211 or ddart@brightonlibrary.info.

“The tremendous show of support from the community and the generosity of donors were met with appreciation and gratitude by the Library Board of Trustees and Director Nancy B. Johnson. Praise from the Board also went to Kate Lawrence and Pam McConeghy who served as Honorary Co-Chairpersons and auctioneers and Mike Ball who Emceed the event,” said Diana Dart, Event Coordinator.

Live auction winners included Rich Perlberg (Daily Press & Argus), whose name will appear in a forthcoming Loren Estleman novel (NYT best-selling author from Whitmore Lake), and Dr. Katherine Lawrence-Copp (Brighton Animal Hospital), who won a Tommy Lynch-guided fly fishing trip on the Pere Marquette River (Lynch & Sons).

The evening’s tongue and cheek Book Jacket Fashion Show was one of the highlights as models wore stylized fashions from popular books including Sherlock Holmes, Gone with the Wind, Fifty Shades of Grey, Breakfast at Tiffany’s,  Fancy Nancy and the Library’s own newspaper collection. Models and designers for the fashion show included the Honorable Theresa Brennan, Rich Perlberg, Steven Obeda, Dr. Katherine Lawrence, Erin Gobielle, Gianna Colley, Andrea Bonomo and consultant, Rose Anna Botorowicz.
