Sidewalk disaster

On Sunday my daughter and I were walking from Third Street to the Art Fair on Main Street and it was a beautiful day....until I tripped on a very uneven piece of sidewalk and went crashing all the way down.

This is a very dangerous situation and the City of Brighton has already repaired this piece of sidewalk. Unfortunately, there are many other places of sidewalk that need to be replaced for the safety of walkers.

My hope and request is that the bond issue that will be on a future ballot will pass so this can be taken care of before any more people get seriously injured walking in Brighton.

Coral, I agree. Last summer I went to the Farmer's Market and fell on Third Street in front of the beautiful white house, now for sale, crashing to my face. I skinned my knees, both of which need to be replaced, my right hand and crashed to the ground. My hit was so hard that I took a picture of my breasts and they were both black and blue for months. I also fell in Brighton while on a field trip with second graders near Meijers crashing to the ground. The city of Brighton is just waiting for a major law suit to happen with all of the uneven sidewalks. Perhaps in the future, when planting trees, someone whom has a knowledge of growth will decide where to plant trees. Thanks, Coral, for speaking out. Diane, that's awful, but I understand how serious this can be after my fall! Things get old and need replacing and/or fixing so I think it's time for the sidewalks to be redone as suggested in the upcoming bond proposal. Let's hope it passes!! I, too, now look down at the sidewalks while walking with friends and family. I learned my lesson!

I think that the Patch covers Brighton events better than the Argus.
