Varsity Ski Submitted by Coach Jeff Street The Brighton Girls Varsity Ski Team took first place with 43 points in a make-up meet Monday night for the two rain-outs last week. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Freshman Lilia Staszel, who came in 5th place; Freshman Jenna Sica, who came in 6th place; Freshman Veronica Ripper, who came in 7th palce and Junior Madison Kraning, who came in 25th place. Freshman Lilia Staszel placed first, Jenna Sica 2nd and a strong showing from Junior Madison Kraning taking 18th place. The Brighton Boys Ski Team placed third with 54 points, led by Seniors Chris Monroe in third place and Matt Shelton in 11th. Both teams are progressing nicely to this point. Submitted by Coach Christina Wilson The Brighton Varsity Cheer team traveled to Gibraltar Carlson on Saturday Dec. 8, to compete for the first time at the Pat Christiansen Memorial Cheerleading Competition. The Bulldogs put on a great performance for a packed gym bringing home the first place trophy for Division 1. Brighton posted a Round one score of 211.3 , a round two score of 200.92, and a 286.2 in round three for a total 698.42, besting the second place Livonia Stevenson by nearly 34 points. Senior Jordan Messick had a goal and an assist. Senior Aaron Meredith and Junior Austin Wilks scored the other goals for Brighton. Brighton outshot Milford 20-2 and improves to 2-0-2 overall, and 1-0-0 in KLAA play. The next game is Thursday at Pinckney.
- Submitted by Coach Paul Parsell The Brighton Girls Golf team won a 34 team, two day tournament in Traverse City the week of Aug. 20. The team shot a 312 on the first day and a 334 on the second day, for a two day total of 646, to clinch first place by 9 strokes over Farmington Hills Mercy.The Brighton Girls Golf team also finished first in their own Invite, the Coach Miller Invite on Monday, Aug. 27, with a team score of 312. Junior Hannah Pietila finished in first place as the invite medalist with a 69 and Freshman Jennica Long shot a 77 for a sixth place finish.
