More About Veterans of Foreign Wars
The Veterans of Foriegn Wars, or more commonly refferd to as the VFW, was created in the very early 1900s after the Spanish- American War and the Phillippine Insurrection left many veterans wounded and sick and with nowhere to turn. These veterans banded together and formed the organizations that grew to become known as the Veterans of Foriegn Wars. Today this group is responsible for such things as creating the GI bill for the 20th century, and so much more. Brighton's own local chapter works to do good things for deserving locals but it also serves as a social meeting place for veterans, their families and other members. The VFW mission is "to 'honor the dead by helping the living' through veterans' service, community service, national security and a strong national defense."
