DESCRIPTION:A free seven-week workshop is being offered for parents of te
 enagers by LACASA. Creating Lasting Family Connections will be held on W
 ednesdays beginning July 11.&nbsp\;\nThis program\, designed for parents
  of teens age 11 &ndash\; 17\, provides parents with support\, insights 
 and information about the challenges facing teens today&mdash\;including
  designer drugs and substance abuse.&nbsp\;\nParents will learn about th
 e developmental stages of adolescence and the behaviors that accompany t
 hese phases. The workshop also explores how to enhance family communicat
 ion skills and reinforce positive changes.\nThe series is free and will 
 be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at LACASA in Howell. Classes w
 ill run through August 22\, 2012.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\nIndividual family couns
 eling sessions are available during the eight weeks to address personal 
 parenting concerns.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\nThis series is offered at no charge t
 hrough a grant provided by the Washtenaw Community Health Organization a
 nd the Michigan Department of Community Health\, Bureau of Substance Abu
