Stand Up Paddleboarding - or SUP'ing - has become one of the fastest growing sports worldwide today. An ancient form of surfing, the sport is very easy to learn, and within one hour you can become very comfortable in the water and on your board. SUP'ing is one of the purest forms of exercise, increasing balance and strengthening your core via a tranquil workout.
The 60-minute class includes safety, paddling techniques, maneuvering and time to paddle. For ages 12 and above, swimming experience required, PFD's required (please bring your own if you have one), all equipment will be supplied. Class size is limited so you must pre-register by calling the park office at 810-229-6566. Brought to you by Paddle the Mitten and SUP Michigan.
A Recreation Passport is required for park entry. The $10 Recreation Passport can be purchased at any Secretary of State office when renewing your license tabs, or at any state park office.

More About Brighton State Recreation Area
Brighton State Recreation Area is a 4,947 acre facility offering lots of great amenities and activities. The park office has limited hours but the park itself seems to be open most of the time except for the equestrian center. The park offers hiking trails, camping, fishing, swimming, boat rentals and lots of great opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
Unique to this park is the equestrian center. You may ride and board your horse here year round (with a small gap during hunting season for riding). Tack items are also available for sale if you need anything. Reservations are required for the equestrian center with 24 hour advance notice required. Additionally, gift certificates for lesson packages, summer camp, trail rides and other gifts are available.
