5 Ways to Celebrate Veterans Day

Veterans Day is Monday, November 11 with some events honoring vets taking place over the weekend.

1. Brighton Parade and Dedication Ceremony

  • On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Veterans parade will take place in downtown Brighton ending at the Mill Pond. Following the parade service, there will be a ceremony dedicating the Brighton Veterans Memorial. 
2. Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony
  • The American Legion Devereaux post 141 and the Marine Corps league will host the 11-11-11 ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the Livingston County Court house lawn in Howell, at 11 a.m. The Marine Corps league will present colors and 21 gun salute along with presentations and key note speaker, David Finney, Jr.
3. Veterans Dinner 
  • The Howell Elks will host a free prime rib veterans dinner on Saturday, November 9 with dinner served from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Entertainment by DJ-Jerry. Reservations Only. Call 517-546-4941.
4. Veterans' Day Appreciation Breakfast
  • A Veterans' Day Appreciation Breakfast will be held at the Bennett Recreation Center in Howell. Breakfast is free for veterans and non-veterans, $3. Visit the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority for more information.
5. 11 Freebies for Vets on Veterans Day
  • Check out a list of some of the local restaurants offering free meals or perks to veterans on Monday.
