Local Artists Bring Art to Brighton

With samples of their work on display or working on their current pieces, local artists come together to enjoy the warm, summer nights sitting alongside the Mill Pond in Brighton.

Helping to bring art to community, Art at the Mill Pond takes place every Thursday night from June until August with members of the Brighton Art Guild welcoming questions and helping to entertain visitors.

It’s also the perfect opportunity to bring exposure to the art world, according to member Pamela Day, who says having a presence in downtown on one of the “liveliest” nights of the week is both fun for the members as well as educational for the community.

“Typically they ask the questions of how do you do that or where do I get my inspiration from,” the artist and former art teacher said.

Day, who does figurative ceramic sculptors, said her work tends to draw in the children when they see working with clay since they are familiar with it from school projects.

Her biggest advice for the young artists is “to keep doing it” she said with a small laugh.

“It’s fun and there’s a lot of room for freedom of expression,” Day said.
