Brighton Kiwanis Raises Flags in Support of Veteran's Memorial

A total of eight American flags will be displayed for the "Flags on Main" event for five national holidays and commemorative weekends.

The Brighton Kiwanis Club will be flying the American flag on Main Street in Brighton in honor of veterans and their families.

A total of eight American flags will be displayed for the "Flags on Main" event for five national holidays and commemorative weekends, according to the Kiwanis website.

To help support this project, the Kiwanis Club of Brighton is asking you to sponsor a flag for the following Holiday weekends.

Donations to help sponsor a flag are being accepted by the Kiwanis Foundation of Brighton and proceeds will benefit the Veteran's Memorial, according to the website. 

The memorial, located at the Millpong Park in downtown Brighton is expected to be constructed by late summer and will take the existing memorial rock and move it to a new location, by the COBACH Center and in front of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, according to a previous report.

The new memorial will be a horseshoe design, with representation of all five armed forces - Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. The entrance of the memorial will have the American Flag on one side and the black POW/MIA Flag on the other.
