A Step in the Right Direction for Downtown Brighton

New stairs will provide a safer and more direct route to access the downtown.

To help with the walkability factor in Brighton, new stairs are being added to the location at 121 W. North Street, which is owned by the Brighton Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

“The cement steps that were there when the DDA bought the site for a future parking structure were dangerous and were being used with some frequency," DDA Director Matt Modrack said in an email to Brighton Patch. “The DDA tore out the old steps and decided to construct a new stairway from the parking lots at the Chamber of Commerce building and the adjoining First Presbyterian Church site.”

The new stairs will provide a more direct route for visitors and resident to access the downtown area, according to Modrack .

Lindhout designed the stairs while Vantage Construction was the contractor on the project with a cost of $10,200, according to Modrack.
