LACASA Launches Purple Ribbon Campaign to Promote Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month - a time to remember lives lost to interpersonal violence and celebrate the courage of survivors.

LACASA volunteers, with the help of Howell High School Marketing and PR students, hung purple ribbons in downtown Brighton, Howell and Pinckney to promote domestic violence awareness.

LACASA will host its 16th Annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the historic Livingston County Courthouse in Howell.

Each year, a Processional Walk is held to start off the event. Members of the public who would like to join in the 5-block processional are asked to meet on the front lawn of the Howell Carnegie Library at 6:30 p.m. 

The processional will leave the library at 6:45 p.m. sharp and make its way along the downtown sidewalk to the courtyard of the courthouse.

The evening will be filled with stories, tributes and music in remembrance of the victims and survivors of domestic violence. The Howell High School a cappella choir will perform.
