Local Church Christens New Home

2|42 Community Church held its first services in its new Genoa Township building this past weekend.

More than 2,150 people attended 2|42 Community Church over the weekend as the church held its first services in its brand new building, The Common’s, located at 7526 W. Grand River Ave. in Genoa Township.

That's almost 1,000 more people that regularly attended while the church was meeting at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts at Brighton High School.

Lead Pastor Dave Dummitt said Livingston County needed a third-place, somewhere other than home or work to meet with friends and neighbors.

“That's exactly what the church has set out change,” he said in a press release. “We want this to be a church that extends beyond Sunday morning, reaching out beyond our regular church attendees. This is our gift to the community we love and have served for over 8 years."

2|42 Community Church purchased the former Brighton Athletic Club on Grand River, across from the St. Joseph Hospital. The renovation took almost one-year to complete and is now a multi-purpose facility serving every member of the community.

Residents will be able to meet a friend for coffee or a meal at the indoor/outdoor cafe, or invite a coworker to play pick-up basketball during the lunch hour. There will be opportunities to attend winter concerts in the auditorium, utilize meeting space or organize a playgroup at the play structure.

2|42 Community Church began in 2005 at Scranton Middle School and soon
after moved into the BCPA. Services have grown to 1,100 attendees in addition to the 300-person Ann Arbor campus which launched in 2009.
