MDOT Announces Special Legislative Funded Projects, Including 2 in Livingston County

The Livingston County projects are two of many road improvements that will take place across the state through the $115 million Roads and Risk Reserve Fund.

Two roads in Livingston County will gets updates thanks to special legislative funding that was included in the state’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget, announced state Reps. Bill Rogers and Cindy Denby.

Grand River from Hacker to I-96, and D-19, from south of Wright Road to the Howell city limit, will see improvements in the next year thanks to $2 million in grants.

“These projects are a great first step in improving Michigan’s roads and bridges,” said Rogers, R-Brighton. “Making sure Michigan roads and bridges are safe is important and there is no one-size-fix-all solution. These projects are a move in the right direction and will come at no cost to taxpayers.”

The Livingston County projects are two of many road improvements that will take place across the state through the $115 million Roads and Risk Reserve Fund.

“These improvements are necessary for the safety of Michigan roads, and while it surely does not address all of the roads in our state that need improvement, it is a start,” said Denby, R-Fowlerville. “These projects are also an investment in Michigan’s future and will help enhance our communities in the process.”

As part of the fiscal year 2014 state budget, the Legislature created the special fund using $230 million in existing state revenue. This funding is in addition to $121.3 million from the state General Fund used to fully match available federal transportation funds.
