POW/MIA Flag Raised at Mill Pond Park
Rolling Thunder Chapter Five, accompanied by the American Spirit Center Guard, honors military veterans missing in action with a ceremony Saturday.
Members of the military came together with civilians Saturday at in downtown Brighton to honor prisoners of war and military personnel missing in action with the raising of the POW/MIA flag.
About 40 to 50 people watched the ceremony, which included speeches by Brighton Mayor Ricci Bandkau and disabled veteran Bryan Bradford.
Bradford, along with Rolling Thunder Chapter Five, based in Hartland, petitioned the for the right to raise the flag, culminating in the day's event.

U.S. Army Sgt. George Bell, a World War II veteran, was satisfied to finally see the flag go up to its place below the American flag. "I think it's great," he said. "I wish Howell would do it, too. We'll work on that."
