Search Continues for Missing Brighton Man

Reports say Cullen Finnerty called his family and told him he was scared and then "wandered into the woods."

The search continues for 2001 Brighton High School graduate and former football star Cullen Finnerty, 30, who was last heard from on Sunday evening while fishing the Baldwin River.

According to a Facebook page dedicated to help search for missing people, Finnerty contacted his family by phone and was having what was described as an “episode,” according to the Facebook post, where he told his family he was scared and then “wandered into the woods.”

According to a report from WHMI, Lake County Sheriff Bob Hilts spoke to his wife and in-laws asking them to pick him up but when they arrived, all they found was his small pontoon boat and fishing pole.

According to the Facebook post, Finnerty's family says he suffered several concussions during his football career and are concerned that may triggered this episode.

Finnerty led the Lakers to three National Championships from 2003-2006, according to the Facebook post, and later he spent time in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.
