Start the New Year off right with Healthy Kick-off Event

St. Joe's teams with IHA, the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and others to host family-friendly health event.

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is pleased to partner with IHA, the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce, The Livingston Daily Press & Argus, WHMI 93.5 and Southeastern Livingston County Recreation Authority for the area’s first Healthy New Year Kick-Off on Saturday, January 11 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

Join health reporter Lila Lazarus for this interactive, family-friendly event being held at St. Joseph Mercy Brighton, located at 7575 Grand River Road in Brighton, Mich.  All activities are free.

"As the largest health care provider in Brighton, we're committed to helping the community kick off their new year and winter activities in a fun and healthy environment," said Kathy Kasperek-Korelis, executive director of ambulatory services at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.

St. Joseph Mercy Brighton is offering a number of free health screenings including blood pressure testing, skin cancer, body mass index and more.  IHA pediatricians and family medicine physicians will provide mini-fitness checks.  Information and activities from ShapeDown®, a weight management program, will be provided and Livingston’s own radio station, WHMI 93.5, will be broadcasting live during the event

The recently renovated Mt. Brighton will offer visitors a chance to experience a virtual skiing/snowboarding activity, and local yoga instructor Lee Ann Louis-Prescott of the Yoga Center for Healthy Living will provide two free one-hour, family-focused yoga sessions.

St. Joe’s Farmer Dan will be on site handing out seedlings and information about The Farm at St. Joe’s housed at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor.
