Future Theater Will Bring 'Triple Treat' to Downtown Brighton

The Fifth Third Theater will be an indoor venue in downtown Brighton.

Known as a "triple treat" that includes shopping, dining and entertainment, the addition of the Fifth Third Theater to the downtown area hopes to add to the all-around experience for visitors to Brighton.

"We've emerged as a dining and entertainment destination, but we'd like to shore up the entertainment part," DDA Director Matt Modrack said in a previous Patch interview.

According to Brighton city council member Claudia Roblee, the Fifth Third Bank Theater will be an indoor venue that seats between 300-400 guests with a dinner-theater atmosphere that includes a variety of entertainment options such as plays, music, movies and lectures.

"But of course we have to find the money to do that," she said. "The most natural place to go to is we have some bonds falling off the DDA next year and we thought about doing some re-bonding."

The project will also be in connection with the Mill Pond Master Plan project, according to Roblee.

According to a previous report, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) secured the future theater property located next to Ciao Amici's with a purchase option to buy for about 15 percent of real value of property.

The planning, architectural work and financing is expected to take up to two years.
