New Brighton Veterans Memorial One Step Closer to Completion

A re-dedication ceremony for the Brighton Veterans Memorial is planned for Nov. 9 at 12:15 p.m.

With just a few weeks left before the planned re-dedication of Brighton's new Veterans Memorial, construction crews have been hard at work creating a "new, more respectful" home.

The moving of the longtime Memorial Rock took place this week to its new place of honor, according to a Facebook post from the Brighton Veterans Memorial.

A re-dedication ceremony will take place in downtown Brighton on Nov. 9 starting at 12:15 p.m. at the new location next to the Brighton Mill Pond.

"We all need to protect it," said Memorial designer Piet Lindhout said in a previous Patch report. "It's sacred land over there... as a community we need to protect it and take care of it and it will be a great thing for Brighton."
