Lyon Township Winterfest

It will be a day of wintry activities for
the whole family at the inaugural Lyon Township Winterfest celebration taking place in and around
New Hudson, and Lyon Township, from 11:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012.

The hub of the activities for this fun and largely free winter extravaganza is James Atchison Memorial Park is located along the I-96 corridor at Exit 155, behind the
Lyon Twp. Hall at 58000 Grand River Avenue in New Hudson.

Winterfest will offer a variety of events, including sled dog rides by the Mid-Union Sled Haulers (MUSH,) ice skating, figure skating demonstrations, 5K snow run, midget hockey game and goal shoot off, an igloo building competition, snow golf, polar plunge, GPS treasure hunt, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and other kids activities such as an ice fishing competition on Haas Lake, kids zone
fun and games, old fashioned jump rope making and a Winter Animal Care Clinic.

Non-stop entertainment will be featured throughout the day and includes an Elvis impersonator as well as DJ music. Special prizes will be awarded to participants throughout the day.

A “Chili, Soup, Stew and Ragu Cook-Off” allows restaurants are invited to enter their very
best recipe and win the coveted title and bragging rights for “Best of the Lyon Township Winterfest
2012.” A panel of area personalities will judge the cook-off, while attendees can taste test samples for
$1.

All proceeds from the chili competition will benefit Active Faith Community Services, which provides long term and temporary
assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times.


Winterfest will conclude with a family style benefit dinner at 5 p.m. at the River Bank Golf Club; proceeds also will be donated to Active Faith Community Services as well as
the Mid-Union Sled Haulers, (MUSH.)
