Not only do Studio West staff hope that the Grand Opening will encourage community members to learn more about the studio, but they also want to use this event as an opportunity to hear what types of art experiences—from shows, to classes, to lectures, and beyond—individuals and families want to see offered at the downtown gallery. Community interest and feedback will help to determine what types of events are planned in the future.

Studio West is open Tuesday- Saturday from 12-8pm. In addition to offering unique art works and smaller gift items for purchase—created by individuals who have barriers to employment and their allies—Studio West also offers a variety of experiential opportunities for the community to engage in the arts.  Workshops, open studio sessions, and a variety of types of performances are in the planning stages, and visitors may sign up for classes starting in the next few weeks.  Schedules and enrollment announcements will also be posted on the gallery’s website www.studiowestgallery.org and Facebook page (facebook.com/studiowestgallery).

Studio West, Work Skills Corporation’s (WSC) newest venture provides people with disabilities and others with an opportunity to express their artistic abilities by creating artwork in a multitude of forms and the opportunity to display and sell their work for income.  Studio West provides WSC, a 501 (c) (3) community-based organization a venue to increase community involvement and exposure.
