Viewfinder: Brighton's Memorial Day Parade Honors Fallen Heroes

People lined Main Street in downtown Brighton to watch the Memorial Day Parade and ceremony at the Mill Pond on Monday.

Crowds of people lined the streets of downtown Brighton in the hot sun for the Memorial Day Parade, which began at 10 a.m. at .

along with the Ladies Auxiliary Post 4357 participated in the event, as well as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.Β 

Members of the American Legion Post 235 were also present.

The BHS Marching Band provided the music as they marched down Main Street during the parade.

The parade culminated at the , where several speakers from the VFW Post and Alexander Estes from the Boy Scouts read poems and spoke their thoughts.

Geneva Fredenburg, president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary tossed a memorial wreath into the Mill Pond as a final tribute to our fallen heroes.

The event ended with a gun salute from the VFW while Taps was played by two BHS Marching Band students.
