Leaky gut or IBS, Wake Up Your Brain.

Leaky Gut? Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Your Brain doesn’t know what’s going on. So, let’s wake up the brain!

If your gut is healthy, most likely you're in good health Some say that the gut is the gateway to health. However, there's a condition called leaky gut and Irritable Bowel Syndrome that says your brain isn’t getting all the information it needs.

What is a leaky gut?

In order to absorb the small vital nutrients in your food, your gut is naturally permeable to very small molecules. One of the major functions of the cells that line the intestinal wall is to regulate intestinal permeability. Your body directs what it takes in.

When a person has lost normal function and balance within their body, the cells become more permeable, or open, to other things like toxins, infectious microbes, undigested food particles and other stuff that "leaks" into your blood stream. Now the body kicks the immune system into fighting these foreign invaders and you get the signs and symptoms of leaky gut..

This is all controlled and coordinated by your brain. Don’t believe me? Chop off your head and see if you can even eat food, let alone digest it.

Your brain uses the spinal cord to coordinate all the other nerves in your body. The spinal cord runs through your spine (thus the spinal of spinal cord). When the spinal cord is in alignment and all the joints are functioning, your brain gets all the proper information it needs to run your body.

What causes leaky gut?

If you have any stress in your life, you probably do not have a balanced spine. This upsets the normal nerve flow to your brain and your brain loses its’ sense of body position. You can see this as bad posture, slumped shoulders, un-level hips, head or shoulders, forward head posture and much more. Go ahead and look in the mirror, you probably have one of these.

The posture changes are because your brain can’t "see" your body to straighten it out or make it upright. This creates stress on your brain and you go into a survival mode.

In survival mode your adrenals work overtime, your blood pressure goes up, you breathe rapid and shallow breaths. Your gut loses out because the brain doesn’t care about digestion, it wants to survive, not sit down and eat. And when it does want to eat, it is usually foods high in carbohydrates to keep the stress going.

If you eat while your brain is stressed out, digestion is horrible. It could be too slow: constipation, too fast: diarrhea, too much: leaky gut or IBS or too slow: leaky gut or IBS. Either way, it is no fun and until you can get your brain to calm down, it will keep on doing the same stuff.

Here are 9 Signs You Have Leaky Gut:

1. Digestive issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

2. Seasonal allergies or asthma.

3. Hormonal imbalances such as PMS or PCOS.

4. Diagnosis of an autoimmune dis-ease like rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, psoriasis, or celiac disease.

5. Diagnosis of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.

6. Mood and mind issues such as depression, anxiety, ADD or ADHD.

7. Skin issues such as acne, rosacea, or eczema.

8. Diagnosis of an overgrowth of candida.

9. Food allergies or food intolerances.

How to deal with a leaky gut.

First of all, you need to restore balance to the spine and nervous system. Why not give your brain the nutrient it needs the most. Motion and position input from your body. As I previously mentioned, bad posture is a sign that your brain is not getting all the information it needs.

Some people also need to eliminate certain foods in their diet. Gluten, dairy, sugar and excessive alcohol are common issues. Toxins can also come in the form of medications and environmental hazards like pesticides.

Researchers say that stress and age also have a role. You may not be able to change your age, but you can change your stress level and how you deal with stress. From personal experience I can tell you that there is nothing better on a stressful day than an awesome upper cervical adjustment.

You can heal from leaky gut

If you suffer from leaky gut, you need to restore balance inside your body. This is not a problem outside of you, so don’t take the outside in approach. Think inside out. Wake up your brain and change what you are doing. Otherwise, you can look forward to more of the same.
