Where did you grow up and go to school? Do you have family?

I grew up Livonia and have lived in Michigan my entire life. I love the changing seasons and can't imagine living anywhere else! I went to Ladywood High School, a Catholic all-girls school in Livonia. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science degree.  My 9-year wedding anniversary is coming up in October. My husband, Ron, and I have two boys, ages 6 and 4.

What’s your experience?

I have worked in online advertising and marketing for over 10 years. My first internet job was with a smaller start up company selling leads to car dealerships. From there I moved on to autotrader.com where I continued to work with and learn from dealerships. I firmly believe that advertising online is where you need to be!

What are your personal hobbies and passions?

I love spending time with my family and boys. We love boating and water sports in the summer. We recently purchased a place in Lewiston, so we love spending time there riding four-wheelers in the fall and snowmobiling in the winter. I like to try and stay healthy by going to yoga classes and cooking for my family.

What are the biggest obstacles facing small businesses today?

I think one of the big obstacles facing small businesses is not knowing where to spend their money for advertising. Smaller businesses don't always have big budgets. I think it's important to know that you don't have to have a large amount. You just need an effective ad plan. There are so many options for internet advertising these days so being educated is the best place an owner can start when making a decision on what to do.

How can you best help small businesses become more successful?

I'm hoping to become more of a consultant to owners. I believe that by having conversations of what the needs and wants are of the owners we can come up with that effective ad plan together. Patch.com offers so many advertising options that we can fit any budget! I want the local businesses to grow and stay around for many, many years to come!
