Breathe Salon Gets Remodeled, Refreshed Under New Ownership

Breathe Salon will host a Grand Opening celebration on Aug. 14 from 6-9 p.m.

After 25 years as a hair stylist, Deborah Kotynski said it was just time to open her own business - so she purchased from its previous owner.

The salon - though it retains the same name - is a brand new business complete with a new look and new products and services.

"I've been doing hair so long and this adds a little spice," Kotynski said about being a business owner."

Breathe Salon is a family business for Kotynski. Both her daughters work with her, Cassy Kotynski is a hairdresser and Stephanie Sredzinki manages the desk and social media sites, while her husband helps out every morning by sweeping the parking lot of debris.

Kotynski's employees are all former co-workers of hers from previous salons.

"I've known 90 percent of the people here since I was 5 years old - they're like family," Sredzinki said about what she liked about working in the salon. "It's a casual, inviting environment. I don't have to deal with not so pleasant co-workers and my mom is my boss."

In addition to hair care, Breathe Salon offers manicures, pedicures, facials, full body waxing, eyelash extensions, lash and brow tinting and more.

Kotynski will hold a Grand Opening celebration at the salon on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 6-9 p.m. There will be raffles for gift baskets of hair care products, gift cards to local restaurants like and a grand prize of free haircuts for a year.

The celebration will also include refreshments, appetizers and live music.

Kotynski actually took over the business in March, but decided to wait to announce her new ownership and hold a grand opening until all her remodeling was complete.

The reception area, facial room and pedicure room were remodeled, Kotynski said because "they weren't cozy enough."

"I love the people," Kotynski said about being in Brighton. "It's just a beautiful area."
