“In the 12 years I’ve been with ESA doing fundraisers, this is the best outpouring of generosity I’ve ever seen," said Patty Jordan, chair of the event. "We are especially grateful to Homewood Suites, who donated their banquet room to us free of charge and are also including a gift card for a free night’s stay with breakfast for our auction.”
The highlight of the auction is a selection of homemade quilts given to the Michigan ESA by St. Jude’s national headquarters. People from all over the country volunteered their talent and time to make quilts and send them to the hospital for use by patients, Jordan said. The hospital had such a surplus that it decided auctioning them would be a great way to earn much-needed funding, she said.

“St. Jude’s sent us so many quilts that we have giant Rubbermaid tubs full of them," Jordan said. "We will be auctioning off some and selling others for $25 to $50, which is an absolute deal because they are all handmade and wonderful quality.”
Also being auctioned are dozens of hats donated by the local business community. Attendees can play the dice game bunco for a $25 donation to St. Jude, enjoy the food and shop, knowing it’s all for a great cause.
