Brighton Woman Uses Creativity to Make Custom Lamps

AnnMarie Stanesa, contemporary lampwork artist and jewelry designer at Stanesa Glass in Brighton, started her business in 2007 after discovering her "creative calling."

How did your business come to be?: I found my creative calling and discovered Lampworking. I thoroughly enjoy melting glass and creating various sculptures and jewelry.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: Lampworking is the use of a tabletop torch to melt and sculpt molten glass using various tools, and gravity to create anything you can dream of. It is a medium that is truly only limited by your own imagination. 

What services does your business provide?: Handmade glass sculpture and jewelry, classes and tutorials for learning how to do your own lampwork projects, and open studio time for practicing and improving your own skills.

What do you want your business to be best known for?: The diversity and uniqueness of the designs and the quality craftmanship of the handmade pieces. To me each creation has the potential to become a personal keepsakes for my customers to enjoy for many years.

What's your most popular product or service?: Ornament blowing classes, where people with no prior experience can spend a small amount of time at our studio and leave with several different, beautiful glass ornaments that they made themselves. Ornaments they can keep for themselves or give as special gifts that have their own unique touch to them.

When was the business founded?: June 2007

Why did you choose to locate to Brighton?: The Brighton area is a wonderful place to raise a family and start a business at the same time. The community is very giving and supportive and I like to be able to give back and get involved in community service projects, events and the local organizations that improve our quality of life.
