Longtime Brighton Business Prepares to Say Good-Bye

Steve and Marcy Aller of Parent Teacher Tech Center announced their plans to retire and close their educational resource store.

For more than two decades, Steve and Marcy Aller have been helping teachers, parents and caregivers educate local children by providing resources in their shop, Parent Teacher Tech Center.

Recently, the longtime Brighton business owners announced they would be retiring and closing their store, a decision Marcy Aller says was “very difficult.”

“It was just something that had to be done,” she said. “And we’re not retiring because of the economy, we’re retiring because of some other circumstances.”

The educational resource shop has been at its current location of 117 E. Grand River for more than 18 years, according to Aller, and said her customers are “some of the nicest people in the world.”

“Because they’re interested in making sure that our kids are educated,” she said.

With about a month or so left before the couple will official close it’s doors, Aller says saying good-bye will be hard and already customers are coming in filled with tears and hugs.

“I love this place,” Aller said. “I’ve been doing this for a long time. We see people now who came in as children and now these kids are teaching.”

Dedicated to a fun approach to learning, the store's educational merchandise that includes games, workbooks and art supplies is currently on sale with some items already marked down to 80 percent, according to Aller.
