Local Cafe Designed for Family Convenience and Entertainment

The Cafe at the Commons is located inside the 2|42 Community Church in Brighton.

For Brighton residents looking for a family-friendly spot to grab a quick bite to eat or hot cup of coffee, Cafe at the Commons is a unique destination located inside the 2|42 Community Church at 7526 W. Grand River Ave.

Open to the public seven days a week, The Cafe is a non-profit coffee house that offers a full menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and beverage options which can be enjoyed in a large yet cozy atmosphere that provides plenty of seating options.

"Another thing we have access to, being in the same building as the Church, is if you come in with your children it is 100 percent free to let your children play on our playscape," said Jeremiah Lynch, Manager of Cafe at the Commons. "And then you can have a cup of coffee while your watching them."

Designed as a community center with the "whole building open to the public," the three-story play structure, full-size indoor soccer field, free Wi-Fi and an indoor/outdoor fire place are just some of the amenities open the public on a regular basis.

Hoping to encourage families to visit the Cafe by serving good food and offering free activities for the kids, The Cafe also provides entertainment with their Friday night concert series.

Also open to the public, the concerts are all family-friendly artists, according to Lynch, with the next scheduled concert taking place in December.

"It will be a Christmas concert and he'll (Andrew Hively) be playing about a 2-hour block of some of the Christmas music he has written and some of the classics," Lynch said.

Musical groups or individuals artists are encouraged to contact Lynch at jeremiah@242community.com for more information about reserving a Friday night show.

While the next concert is still weeks away, 2|42 Community Church will be hosting their Fall Festival this weekend, welcoming families in on Oct. 26 for food, fun and games.

Starting at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Brighton campus will have pumpkin painting, inflatables, rock walls and other activities.

The Cafe at the Commons is open Mon.- Thurs. 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
