Downtown Brighton Prepares for Largest Ladies Night Out Yet

Brighton's Ladies Night Out will take place on May 2 in downtown Brighton.

It’s time again for downtown Brighton’s Ladies Night Out, coming up May 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. Ladies of all ages are invited to downtown Brighton to shop for the latest spring fashions and to pick up a gift for mom, as Mother’s Day is just around the corner.

More than 40 stores, restaurants, beauty salons, gift shops, etc. are taking part in this Ladies Night Out, making this event the largest Ladies Night Out in Downtown Brighton yet.

“This event just keeps getting bigger and better,” said Jen Ling, special events planner for Downtown Brighton Principal Shopping District and the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. “We have more merchants participating than ever before, and it makes for such an exciting night out for the ladies! This time, we even have a few hotels offering discounts for ladies celebrating Ladies Night Out, making it more convenient for those coming in from out of town. This way, they can make a night of it, and not worry about driving home.”

Many participating merchants are offering special discounts, complimentary refreshments and/or activities for the ladies. Activities planned include fashion and trunk shows, beauty and nutrition consultations, raffles, drawings, and even massages and a mixology seminar, among other things.

“I look forward to watching the women come down and have a blast,” said Cathy Dedakis, owner of Sassafrass Gifts. “In December, it was wall to wall ladies. They stayed, looked around and made their purchases. I don’t even know how they got through the store, but it was awesome.”

Ladies Night Out was started about 9 years ago by Gail Sherman, owner of Impulse Clothing Boutique, as she invited ladies along with their girlfriends, moms and sisters to do some holiday shopping right before Christmas. The event has not only grown bigger every year, but has turned into a bi-annual shopping day that women look forward to every May and December.

“It is just awesome when all of downtown comes together on something like this,” states Debbie Carley, owner of Beverly Rae’s Boutique. “Last Ladies Night Out was like nights we used to have 10 years ago when the economy was just booming. We were so busy, and I was just not staffed for it. I will be more prepared this time!”

Other Ladies Night Out features include a drawing for a 2-night stay in Petoskey, Michigan offered by Talula Boutique and a 30-minute session for painting and adding bling to canvas tote bags offered by The Paint & Pour at Studio West Art Gallery- save your seat by calling 810.534.6200.

Also during Ladies Night Out, attendees can enjoy dance performances by One Spirit Dance & Fitness and group photos at the Mill Pond courtesy of Static Photography. The Livingston lamplighters Barbershop Chorus will also be around town singing live for the ladies.

The Courtyard by Marriott, located at 7799 Conference Center Dr, in Brighton, and the Homewood Suites by Hilton, located at 8060 Challis Rd in Brighton, are offering discounts for ladies who mention they are staying for Ladies Night Out.
