Pinckney Pink Petunia Breast Cancer Ribbon Garden dedication and open house take place starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Ed Bock Feeds & Stuff.

The ribbon shaped garden consists of three colors of Proven Winners pink Supertunias that were purchased through a fundraiser that began June 18 to benefit Making Strides for the American Cancer Society.

Making Strides has succeeded in making vital progress for the American Cancer Society through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Patients, survivors, and their families are able to benefit from the society's critical programs.

Donations will be accepted throughout the summer and a plant stake provided to print a name in honor of a breast cancer survivor or victim to be placed among the petunias.

The dedication evening will to bring all those together that made this project possible and to remember all loved ones that have been affected by breast cancer.

The public is invited and refreshments will be provided.

Jeff Beemer and the staff at Ed Bock Feeds and Stuff, as well as Brenda’s Beauties, a non-profit organization founded by 4-year breast cancer survivor, Brenda Baraniak of Chelsea sponsored the garden that has received much attention.

The Pinckney, Lakeland, Hamburg, Hell Chamber of Commerce purchased the pink ribbon statue that completes the display.

The plan is to repeat this effort every spring with the purpose to honor breast cancer survivors, raise funds for breast cancer research, raise awareness about the disease, and to help save lives.

Visit the garden during business hours every day from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. or you may donate by calling Ed Bock Feeds and Stuff at 734-878-3092. The requested donation per plant is $5.
