Brighton Fire Receives Donation of Life-Saving Tools from Firehouse Subs

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated five multi-gas detectors, a fire extinguisher training system and two automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) worth more than $25,700 to the Brighton Area Fire Authority.

The new gas detectors will replace outdated models, allowing for greater public safety, giving firefighters the ability to determine whether air is safe to breathe in a rescue situation.

The fire extinguisher training system will allow firefighters to instruct the community on the safe and proper use of fire extinguishers through hands-on instruction and demonstrations, training more than 150 citizens proper fire extinguisher use to-date.

The donated AEDs will ensure firefighters are prepared to provide life-saving assistance if a citizen goes into cardiac arrest.

The Foundation has donated more than $6.3 million to first responders and public safety entities across the nation, including more than $44,600 in Michigan.
