5 Ways to Splurge in the Brighton Area

5 Ways to Spend Some Extra Money in the Brighton, MI Area

To follow-up to my two previous blogs about things that are free to do in the Brighton area (or close to it), I am now offering suggestions about things to do when you want to splurge. Perhaps you came into a windfall, like a tax refund, and would like some ideas how to spend it (although saving it is not a bad idea either).

1. Gym membership.  I am dedicated to health and fitness and I feel the best investment we can make is in ourselves and taking care of ourselves.  In a previous blog I mentioned the idea of trying out a gym or fitness/workout classes for free. Once you find something you can commit to, I suggest spending that extra money on your health.

2. Massage. This is something you will probably need if you go with the gym membership and/or you have a lot of stress in your life. A massage will relax you and make you feel so much better. There are several massage therapists in the Brighton area.

3. Mt. Brighton.  A day or weekend spent here is a great way to get outside and just have fun. They have snowboards, helmets and skis available for rental. You can also get lessons if you are new to this. The “bunny hill” (tow rope) is suitable for all ages even the younger ones (see attached video).

4. Shop. I encourage you to go to downtown Brighton or downtown Howell as there are some unique stores you just can’t find at the mall. Check out the special store in the video that caters to your pets. Alternatively, we are lucky to live close to the Tanger Outlet Mall in Howell and Green Oak Village Place Shopping Center.

5. Home Improvement.  With some extra money perhaps now is the time to work on that project at home. Besides the choices of big box home improvement stores, Brighton has many stores that can assist you in whatever your home improvement project is: kitchens, baths, tile work, carpeting, painting and more.

This list is not all-inclusive and of course may not even pertain to you and your interests.  I am curious how YOU would spend money and splurge on something in the Brighton area?  I like to keep it local as I feel that is best for our local economy.
