Fun Things To Do in the Brighton Area That Are Free (or close to it)

5 Free (or close to it) things to do in and around Brighton, MI.

Are you looking for some ways to have fun this winter but not spend a lot of money? This is the first of a two-part series.  Here are some ideas (in no particular order):

1.  Visit the Brighton District Library (or a library close to you). I love to read but you can also check out more than just books. They also have movies to watch and Music CDs to listen to. If you don’t find what you are looking for, a reference librarian can see if it can be ordered from another library or you can request it yourself online. There are also great programs that are free for kids, teens and adults. The Brighton District Library has a newsletter available that discusses these programs. Please remember that the Brighton District Library is closed on Thursdays now.

2. Try a fitness class or gym. There are gyms and workout centers in the area that want you to try them out. They will offer anywhere from a week long free membership to a “bring a friend” workout at no charge. I encourage you to participate in a class or workout and maybe you will find one that is right for you.

3. Redbox movie rental. I love these because you can rent a movie at one store and return it to a different one. The cost is only $1.50 per movie plus tax. They have new releases too.

4.  Genoa Township sledding hill. Yes, we haven't had much snow, but this is a great place to go to for FREE when we have snow. It is located off Dorr Rd near Crooked Lake Road.

5. Walk/run. There are numerous sidewalks and paths around Brighton where you can take a leisurely stroll or go for a long run. Check out the ducks as you stroll around Mill Pond in downtown Brighton. Try out the path around the Genoa Township building.
