Tim Rath, the Patch editor for Troy and Shelby-Utica, was not sure exactly how widespread the cuts are, but it has been reported in the media that everyone in Michigan was let go. There are 30 Michigan Patch sites, all in southeast Michigan. Many editors were covering two sites.
Best wishes to Tim Rath and the other editors as they seek new employment. Tim was not sure about the future of the Troy Patch website; I’m not sure how local news media can be successful without local reporting. However, according to this national article, the 900 Patch sites will be kept running.
