Brighton Area Firefighters Respond to Car Fire on I-96

A car caught fire on westbound I-96 late Wednesday morning.

The Brighton Area Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire on westbound I-96 at US-23 at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday morning.

No one was injured and firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:52 and were able to put out the flames.

Brighton Fire Chief Mike O'Brian said the car, an early 2000's Silverado Pick-Up Truck, caught fire in the engine department and was a total loss.

The fire impacted traffic on westbound I-96 until the scene was cleared around 12:25 p.m.
