Coach's Corner: Lady Bulldogs Basketball Teams Net Another Win

Brighton Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman basketball teams defeated Plymouth Monday night.

The Brighton Varsity Girls basketball team traveled to Plymouth High School on Monday and came away with a come-from-behind win, 39-38. Β 

The Bulldogs trailed throughout the game and finally took the lead with 8 seconds left on two clutch free throws from Courtney Murphy. Brighton trailed at the end of the third quarter 22-33 and still trailed by 10 with a little over four minutes left. The Bulldogs extended their defense and were able to create several turnovers down the stretch to allow them to get back into the game.

Courtney Murphy lead the Bulldogs with 20 points, 4 steals and 2 assists. Β Laura Taylor added 5 points and 15 rebounds.

Brighton improved their record to 14-5 (8-2 in KLAA West league play).

Junior Varsity and Freshman teams also won their games against Plymouth, 63-32 and 23-16, respectively.

The Bulldogs' next match will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host Plymouth Canton. Junior Varsity and Freshman play begins at 5:30 p.m.
