Good Morning Brighton

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Oct. 13, 2011.

1. The weather

Today will be cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain and a high near 68 degrees, according toΒ the National Weather Service. Chances of rain increase to 70 percent tonight with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 52 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Wednesday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com viaΒ GasBuddy.com:

Join University of Michigan alumni and friends in raising money for at 6 p.m. today at Clear University's Johnson Center at 3750 Cleary Dr. in Howell. Vina Dental serves low-income residents in Livingston County, as well as those without insurance. In honor of the upcoming U-M vs. Michigan State University game, wear "game day" attire. Appetizers will be served with a cash bar. There will be prizes for "best dressed" from each university. Events will include games and a sports memorabillia silent auction. 4. Comfort cooking class

Acorn Farms will host a class from 7-8:30 tonight at 367 N. Main St. in Milford. On the menu tonight: burgundy braised brisket in a cranberry sauce; potato, spinach and mushroom swiss gratin; sweet pumpkin risotto (pumpkin pie and rice pudding). Cost is $25; participants must preregister by calling the store at 248-684-1373.

Who was the first settler in Brighton Township, settling outside the village limits in 1832?
