Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

Twice a week, Brighton Patch will post a snapshot of something from around Brighton. Readers are asked to guess the location of where the picture was taken. It will be like a virtual tour guide of Brighton.

1. The weather

Today will be cloudy, with a 40 percent chance of snow showers before 5 p.m., and a high near 27, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Wednesday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd: $3.27
  • CITGO, 1050 E Grand River: $3.27
  • Sunoco, 602 W Grand River Ave: $3.33

3. Catholicism Classes

Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church will host Catholicism classes today at 6:30 p.m. in portable classroom #4. The public is welcome. Contact Denise @ dpolasky@holyspiritbrighton.com with questions.

4. Family to Family Education Program

St. Joseph Mercy Health System will host a free 12 week program for family caregivers of adult individuals with a mental illness. Provides support and information about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, communication & problem solving skills and how to advocate for better treatment for your loved one.  Resource/workbook included.  Class provided by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Livingston County, Thursdays May 3 thru July 19, 2012, 6 to 8:30 p.m.  To RSVP or for more information, call Janet at 517-548-3084.
