Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Today will be partly sunny, with a 30 percent chance of rain and a high near 64 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will have an 80 percent chance or rain with a low around 45 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Monday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • Mobil, 9925 Spencer Rd.: $3.39

3. Teen Pumpkin Party

will hold its Fifth Annual Teen Pumpkin Carving Contest tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come up with the most creative design and win a $25 Target gift card. The Library will supply the pumpkins and carving tools.

4. Gluten-Free, Casein-Free Cooking Class

will host a cooking class that will demonstrate how to make gluten-free and casein-free recipes. Marjie's Pantry will teach how to make GF/CF cookies, homemade nut milks, a flourless bread, and quinoa salad. They will discuss GF/CF replacement ingredients, places to shop, and hidden ingredients to avoid. This is an interactive class and we will enjoy our creations so come hungry.
